Elizabeth Miller Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Miller, 86 Passed into eternal life January 19, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born Elizabeth Ann Mulligan July 28, 1939 to Harry E. and Nellie B. Mulligan (though Social Security says July 29, but we are going to believe her mother) in St. Augustine, a village in Clearfield Twp., Cambria County PA. She graduated from Patton Highschool 1957, worked at the Patton Shirt Factory and then at Sylvania in Altoona. She married Wilfred Paul Miller on October 5, 1963 at St. Augustine Church. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother William Mulligan, brother and sister-in-law Robert “Moon” and Barbara Mulligan, and brother-in-law James Huber. Survived by son Russell P. Miller, MD and his wife, Lori Kosicki-Miller, her “baby” sister Sandy Huber, sister-in-law Patricia A. Miller, brother-in-law Gary C. Miller (Patricia) and sister-in-law Delores Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty Ann was quite literally a life long resident of the village of St. Augustine, having died sixty yards from the house in which she was born. She was extremely active in the parish life of St. Augustine. She had been a member of the Sodality of the B.V.M. and then the Altar and Rosary Society, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and served at various times on the Parish Pastoral Council, the building committee, and the picnic committee. For decades Betty served as the chair lady of the dining room at the annual picnic and sacristan caring for the altar linens. She positively influenced the lives of generations of young people in the area by teaching C.C.D., helping with the annual vacation Bible school, being a band mom, and as “lunch lady” at Cambria Heights Schools. She was a member of Patton Garden Club and the Patton Music Club. She loved all kinds of flowers and was an avid gardener. However, her true passion was cooking and baking. Caring for people by feeding them was Betty Ann’s love language and she excelled at creating holiday dinners and for many years cooked wedding and funeral dinners with other “church ladies”. But baking was her forte. Baking bread, rolls, cookies, and pies was second nature to her. But the hallmark of her life was gratitude: gratitude for what she was able to do for family and friends, grateful for the life given her and especially grateful for her faith and life in Christ Jesus. “God has been so good. I am so lucky.” Family and friends will be received on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 2pm to 8pm at Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11am St. Augustine Catholic Church, 803 St. Augustine Rd. Dysart, PA 16636. Committal will be held at St. Augustine Cemetery.
